June 1998

June was a terrific month for us to perform. Our first show was a private show beside the Geiranger fjord in western Norway.

This has to be one of the most beautiful places in the world!! If you have ever seen tourist photos of Norway, one of them is bound to be of this fjord. It is a natural wonder treasured by Norwegians for its beauty. We were also lucky to play there in June and experience the extremes of the Midnight Sun amongst the glistening glaciers.

The latter part of June also found us performing in Norway, Sweden, France, Portugal and Turkey. Perhaps the highlight of the tour for Rolf was performing in Marseilles before the football match between Norway and Brazil, and best of all we were invited to the same match and cheered for Norway as they defeated Brazil!! ‘Shame it was the only match that they won. Incidentally, we were to be touring in Brazil in June, but the shows were postponed when they (the arrangers) remembered that the World Cup was on; maybe just as well.

Other great memories of that tour was performing at the World’s Fair in Lisbon on a special Norwegian day that was attended by the Norwegian Crown Prince, and playing an outdoor concert in Istanbul to a capacity audience.
